About
My name is Amy Binning, and I am a researcher based in Toronto, Ontario. My background is in academia, I hold an MRes and a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge. There I conducted research in the United Kingdom, United States, Indonesia, and India. Subsequently I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at McGill University.
In 2022 I added a MS in Library and Information Sciences, with a focus on archival science. Since graduating I have been working as a historian and archival researcher in the heritage field.
I have worked with private, public, and university archival collections across North America and the UK for individual and corporate clients. I have extensive experience with both text-based and ethnographic research. I have the experience to work with land records, census data, court records, vital statistics, historic maps, and local histories, among many more.
I specialise in creating clear, readable reports with photos, maps, and documents that will bring the past to you. Whether you are seeking to build a family tree, understand this history behind your home, or organise your family’s or company’s archives, I have the skills and the experience to help!
